It Stinks When Your Baby Is Sick: A Germanic Healing Knowledge Perspective

As a parent, there’s nothing more challenging, frightening, and disempowering than seeing your baby sick—whether it’s their first cold, a rash, or a blown out diaper. You want answers and solutions that don’t feel scary or overwhelming. But what if your baby’s symptoms aren’t something to fear? What if they’re part of your baby’s amazing ability to adapt and heal? And what if gaining just a little knowledge could change the course of your family’s health forever, save you lots of money, fear and forever running to someone for help!?

Let me give you the missing piece!

From the perspective of Germanic Healing Knowledge (GHK), symptoms aren’t random or meaningless—they’re purposeful adaptations triggered by biological shocks.

What’s a Biological Shock?

A biological shock occurs when your baby’s psyche (subconscious) perceives an unexpected event or situation as dangerous or fearful—something they couldn’t have been prepared for. These shocks trigger what GHK calls a Special Biological Program of Nature, or as I like to say, “a Program is running.”

When this happens, your baby’s body immediately reacts, sending signals from specific areas of the brain to specific organs of the body to "adapt now, we are in danger." This process is designed to help them survive and adapt to the situation.

When a biological shock occurs, your baby enters conflict activity, which you will now forever be aware of:

  • Cold hands and feet

  • Reduced appetite

  • Fussiness or crying

  • Restless sleep

Here are a few examples of typical situations babies experience:

  • Not being able to get food fast enough

  • Having to sit in a wet or soiled diaper

  • Being forced to swallow food they don’t like

  • Being put into a new room with no one familiar or surrounded by strangers (WHERE IS MY MOMMY?)

  • Being held down

  • Loud noises like fighting, scary movies, or fireworks

Breaking Down the Symptoms of a 'Cold'

From the GHK perspective, colds and flu share the same conflict themes. However, flu symptoms are more intense because the conflict lasted longer or was more severe. The specific symptoms tell us which program is running:

  • Stuffy nose, sneezing, snotty nose, and then tiredness: These are healing phases after a scent conflict is resolved. For example, exposure to an unpleasant smell, missing or not wanting the scent of someone, or even "too much of a good scent." Stuffy noses, sneezes, and drippy noses always go together in that order. this program.

  • Sore throat and then fatigue: A "I can’t swallow this" conflict, whether it’s something they were forced to eat or a situation that was “hard to swallow.”

  • Cough: The healing phase of a fear or fright in their environment. Fighting in the home is a common trigger, as is being brought to daycare for the first time. Asthma attacks are part of the healing process for a fear or scare.

  • Fatigue is one of the last symptoms in all Programs, so when you have multiple symptoms when they settle down, the fatigue can be extreme.

How This Happens to Babies

Biological shocks often happen to babies in ways we might not expect. Here are a few examples:

  • "Nannie You Stink!" Conflict: Imagine Nanni comes over wearing very strong perfume or heavily scented clothing. She’s eager to get her “baby fix” and holds the baby for a few hours, giving the parents some well-deserved time away. During this time, the baby’s psyche registers, “This stinks!” While being held, the baby is in conflict activity (cold hands, less relaxed). Once back with their parents and away from the strong scent, the baby enters the healing phase—sneezing once or twice and developing a quick drippy nose (just those cute little baby sneezes!).

  • Your Baby’s First Car Trip: Picture your baby, for the first 2 months of life being held and cared for on demand. Suddenly, strapped into a car seat for a long trip. They’re hungry, sitting in a dirty diaper, and although they can see and smell you, they aren’t being fed. The baby cries and cannot be consoled because you are on I 90! When the trip ends, they’re finally held and truly consold, fed, and cleaned up. Their psyche recognizes, “Phew, that’s over-this is back to normal!” The healing phase begins:

    • A long nap interrupted with...

      • A big load of diarrhea

      • Stuffy nose followed by sneezes

      • A blistery diaper rash and possibly a rash on the torso

      • THEN...Reduced appetite and exhaustion

  • Interpreting Symptoms:

    • Tiredness is the first sign that something is resolved and 'back to normal.'

    • "This stinks, I can’t smell my mom" → Nasal mucosa → Stuffy nose, sneezes, then fatigue

    • "I can’t digest my milk, and I’m mad" → Small intestine → Diarrhea then fatigue

    • "I’m separated from my mom’s arms!" → Skin → Rash then fatigue

    • "I’m sitting in poop!" → Blistery diaper rash then fatigue

***YOUR CHILD IS HEALING AND NOT CONTAGIOUS!***

  • When Treatments are Unexpected: Sometimes, treatments themselves can create new biological shocks. For example, your baby might be forced to take unpleasant-tasting medicines ("this tastes awful" or "I don’t want to swallow this") or be taken to medical professionals where they’re held down, poked, and prodded ("I’m in danger!" or "I can’t escape this!" conflict). These experiences can lead to additional symptoms, such as sores in the mouth, sore throat, asthma attacks, or even seizures during the healing phase, perpetuating the cycle of illness and fear.

Why This Perspective Matters

Understanding that your baby’s symptoms are part of their body’s natural adaptation to unexpected events will be life-changing for you. It helps shift your focus from fear to curiosity and even gratitude for the way your baby’s body works to heal.

Most importantly, with this awareness, you can begin to understand your baby before they can even talk. This knowledge encourages mindfulness in how we introduce new experiences to our children, ensuring they feel safe and supported as they grow and learn about this world they’ve landed in! Making conscious choices in your home will be part of your families preventative plan.

A New Perspective on Your Baby’s Health

When your baby’s symptoms no longer feel scary, you can guide them through health challenges with confidence. Understanding the Germanic Healing Knowledge perspective helps you see these moments for what they are—your baby’s natural healing process.
